To create this altar you do not need any highly specialist witches tools or unique items you have never heard of. Many of the decorations can be created using items you already own or can easily make. Let me take you through a few I use each year.
When choosing your Imbolc candles try and go for light colours, the colour you will most likely already own is white. This is perfect for Imbolc as it is one of the colours of the sabbat and represents purity.
White candle
Twine or string
Bay leaves or lavender sprigs.
To make these candles simply take your twine and wrap it around the bottom of the candle. As you do this add in the herbs you have selected such as bay leaves or lavender. We have recommended these 2 herbs as bay leaves have been traditionally used as offerings to the sun gods at this time of year and lavender because it smells amazing. You can also use any other herbs or botanicals you have to hand.
Warning: Never leave these candles unattended and blow them out before the reach the twine.
Dried flowers tend to be a common decoration for Imbolc, with lavender often being the preferred option. This is due to the fact it is easily accessible for most, often growing in our own gardens. Dried flowers are often chosen over fresh due to the fact they can be left without having to be replaced for far longer than fresh. Lavender is a great choice as it has strong Love, protection, sleep, purification, happiness, and peace powers.
If you do not have a vase take a normal drinking glass and fill it with crystals (my favourite Imbolc crystals are Citrine and Amethyst) to hold the sprigs in place. You can use which ever crystals you have to hand but the most common Imbolc crystals are: Amethyst, Peridot, moss agate, onyx, selenite, moonstone and sunstone.
This offering bowl can be as complex or as simple as you like. If you do not have a little bowl, you can do what I have done here and use the mortar from the mortar and pestle set. If possible, try and choose one in a light colour. In my bowl I have added a base of chamomile with bay leaves (these can be used to write on your manifestations or goals) and a cinnamon tealight (you could use any form of cinnamon this is just what I had to hand).
Chamomile – Love
Lavender – purity
Bay leaves – manifestation
Cinnamon – protection
Sea salt – cleansing / rebirth
White flowers – purity
Basil – prosperity
Imbolc is also known by some as Saint Brigids day, each of the witches sabbats tends to honour one god/goddess and Imbolc is Brigid. Brigid is the Celtic goddess of learning, healing, the smitharts/craftsman, and fertility. Therefore, you may want to represent her on some way on your altar. Many choose to do this by making the brigids cross from soft rushes or lavender stalks.
However, the materials to this cross are not easy for everyone to come by. Other ways to represent Brigid on your altar can be :
The simplest decoration for Imbolc is a house plant. As this is a sabbat all about looking toward the spring bringing any representation of the earth on to your altar is perfect. Choose the plant you have that thrives best in any conditions such as a spider plant, cactus, succulent or a mother in laws tongue.
Have a blessed Imbolc!

Any research or further reading you do about conkers will reference their powerful association with money and prosperity.
First, a word of warning: when conducting any form of money spell, be careful not to wish for vast sums of money. The most common way to suddenly gain a large amount of money is through a loss or bereavement, which is not usually the intended outcome of a spell. Instead, ask the universe to give you what you need.
Money spells are best worked on a Wednesday, so select a suitable time and prepare yourself and your space. Before conducting the spell, select a few coins/notes in your own currency and cleanse them by leaving overnight in vinegar and then rinsing them in spring, or moon water. Alternatively you can leave them in the light of the moon for a period of time.
Light your green candle and keep it close. Open your mojo bag and clear your thoughts. Concentrate on increasing your wealth, according to your needs as you sprinkle in first the nutmeg and cinnamon then the conker. Both spices are associated with attracting wealth.
Then add the bay leaf, you may choose to add a sigil for prosperity to you leaf beforehand. It doesn’t matter if the leaf is broken it will work all the same. Bay concentrates your effort and allows money to flow in your direction.
Add your cleansed coins, imagining yourself more financially comfortable. Think about what increased wealth can bring to you and what you will use the money for.
Once the bag is complete say, or chant the following:
“Money come to me and flow
Let this money grow and grow”
Blow out the green candle, if you are using a bowl you can add some the was to the bowl.
Carry the mojo bag with you, in your bag or pocket when you are out and about.
To recharge the bag/bowl, leave it overnight to sit in the light of the moon, either outside or on a window ledge, on another Wednesday night and, after clearing your mind, set your intention again by repeating the above chant.
Runes are an ancient form of divination many witches still use.
To make your runes you will need 24 conkers of similar size and a permeant maker or what every tool you choose to mark your runes with. This method is for the ancient Elder Futhark runes if you are creating the Witches runes you will only need 13 conkers.
Before drawing on the symbols to your runes, make sure they are washed and cleansed so nothing will interfere with the answers they give you. Once dried begin to write on the 24 symbols, it does not matter if they are perfect as this is individual to you. Once you have written on all the symbols you should take some time to connect with this set before using for divination. To do this you can hold them tightly in you palm and meditate or hold them up to your third eye. Once you are happy with the runes find a bag that is opaque and place them inside.
Runes can be read in variety of ways, here are just 3:
For each season or Sabbat some witches like to redecorate their altars. This is a great practice as you can start the season off with new intentions and goals. As conkers are seen as symbol of prosperity they make the ideal altar decoration welcoming in abundance for you in the areas of your life you wish to concentrate on. Using natural items from the season you are in can also display your thanks to mother earth.
For the ultimate prosperity decoration for your Yule altar you may want to make a wreath from bay leave and conkers. Make a whole in the centre of each conker and leaf. Then gather wire or string and place on your conkers and bay leaves until you get to your desired size. Then decorate with a red or green bow.
For many the conker is a symbol of luck. To make the simplest lucky charm go out foraging until you find the conker that connects with you. Keep this conker in your pocket or make into a necklace. Keeping conkers in your pockets also has an added benefit as they can double as a destressing tool by rubbing them with you thumb.
Who knew so much magick could be found inside a conker!
]]>One of the best parts of the holiday is getting to see and spend time with a family more often than usual. If you feel the desire to better communicate with your family and the need to promote harmony give the spell below a go.
White Candle
Rose petals
Chamomile Tea Bag
Lavender Tea Bag
Small Glass Bottle with Cork
Pink & Blue candles
Hold the rose petals in your hands and take a few deep breaths. Visualize your family members in a circle, surrounded by a warm, glowing light of love and understanding. Sprinkle the rose petals into the flame of the candle.
As the petals slowly burn pass the uncorked bottle through the smoke from the candle. Visualise your love for your family flowing into and out of the bottle to surround them with love, kindness and patience.
Take the chamomile and lavender tea bags and dip them in warm water. As it steeps, say the following incantation:
"With love and light, this spell is cast,
Family bonds now strong and steadfast.
Let harmony and unity reign,
Clearing all strife, healing all pain.
By the power of love, so it shall be,
As I will, so mote it be."
After saying the incantation, take the tea bags and let them cool for a moment. Squeeze a drop or two of the liquid into the glass bottle. Then hold the bottle in your hand and visualize the jar filling with the soothing energy of the spell, encapsulating the essence of family harmony.
Close the container and seal it with a kiss, a gesture of love and intent. If you wish you can seal the candle with pink wax for love and blue wax for peace.
Allow the white candle to burn down safely or extinguish it if you need to leave the area.
Place the container in a prominent spot in your home, such as the kitchen or living room, where it can serve as a reminder of your family's unity. Whenever tensions arise or communication falters within your family, hold the container for a moment and visualize the positive energy of the spell enveloping your loved ones. Remember, magick is a reflection of your intentions and energy. Keep your focus on fostering understanding, patience, and love within your family, and the spell's effects will amplify your efforts towards achieving family harmony.
Crystal girds can be used for many purposes such as answering questions, guiding you on the right path and manifestation. To use a crystal grid to manifest calm and balance this holiday season follow the steps below.
If you are traveling and not able to bring a full grid then remove the grounding stone from your grid and keep it in your pocket. When you feel overwhelmed hold or rub this stone.
Conflict is an unavoidable part of life but it can be hard to foster peace between to the 2 parties. Use this spell when you when you feel 2 sides need to be brought back together with peace and love. This spell works using a traditional wooden Welsh love spoon symbol which has long been a token given for love or friendship. However if you do not have this items then feel free to use a personal object that represents peace to you or those in conflict.
Wooden Welsh love spoon symbol
Blue candle
Blue ribbon
Sandalwood incense stick
This spell is best worked on a waxing or new moon to encourage peace to grow. Clear your space and your mind. Light the incense stick and waft the smoke over the love spoon, candle and ribbon to cleanse it.
Leave the incense to burn whilst you work the remainder of the spell.
At this point, if you wish, you can write the name of the parties you wish to foster peace between on the ribbon. This could include yourself. Concentrate on feelings of love and calm as you do this.
Then thread the ribbon through the love spoon and then tie around the candle.
Place the candle in a holder or pile of sand on a heat resistant dish. Light the candle and concentrate of the flame whilst continuing to think of the two parties you wish to bring peace between. Send out your feelings of love, serenity and hopes for peace to the universe.
If you wish you may say a few words about your hopes for peace or chant the following:
“As below so is above, I send out hopes for peace and love
As any conflict starts to ease, may this give a lasting peace
Understanding and agreement now flow free
With love go forth, so mote it be”
Imagine your intention flowing through you, absorbing into the flame and sending out light and wishes for peace into the universe.
When you feel ready, blow out the candle and snuff out the incense and watch your wishes carry on the smoke.
You can repeat this spell by relighting the candle and incense stick and repeating your wish for peace or using the above chant again.
Hope you all have a peaceful and calm holiday season, Blessings x

As the veil between our worlds thins it is an excellent time to forge connections and communicate with our ancestors, who may choose to guide, heal or pass knowledge on to us. An ancestor is not only someone related to us by blood, it can also relate to those who have cared for us. Some refer to their ancestors as their 'spirit guides.
We will all have a wealth of ancestors, some of whom we hold memories of and many of whom we do not. Think how many generations have come before you, there will undoubtedly be thousands, or even hundreds of thousands of ancestors to potentially connect with.
I call upon those who loved me to come to me,
Give me your help from eternity
Remember when you have finished communicating with your ancestors to thank them, just as you would a physical visitor to your home. Always be respectful, patient and kind. However, if you invite all of your ancestors to visit there is no guarantee they will also act in this accommodating manner. Should you feel uncomfortable at any time, then thank them for coming but request that they leave and blow out

As the saying goes ‘once in a blue moon’ which is used to mean a rare event. It does not mean that the moon will appear blue, in fact, it will appear the same luminous off white or yellow as usual.
As this blue moon is in August it can also be said to be a ‘fruit moon’ as this term is often used to describe a full moon that occurs around fruit picking season at the end of August or beginning of September.
This is the third supermoon of the year with the last set to occur on September 29th. A supermoon appears to be larger and brighter in the sky and this blue supermoon is set to be the biggest and brightest yet.
In magickal terms, this rare blue supermoon will allow you to release negativity and set intentions whilst having the best opportunity to use your intuition in doing so. This supermoon is a time to embrace ourselves and create new, or second, chances to enrich our life or attract abundance. Take your time to prepare a ritual which could include drawing down the moon or making a moon braid and think carefully on what you wish to manifest. After all, this is a special time and you may have to wait many years before having another opportunity like this.

In many ancient civilizations, trees were considered sacred and revered as sources of life and wisdom. The practice of honoring trees can be found in various cultures around the world, such as in Celtic, Norse, and Native American traditions. Trees were believed to be inhabited by spirits or deities and were seen as gateways to the divine.
The term "tree hugger" originated during the 1730s when a group of Bishnois in Rajasthan, India, known as the "tree huggers," protested against the cutting of trees for construction purposes. The Bishnois considered trees to be sacred and believed in protecting all forms of life. Their nonviolent acts of hugging trees to prevent their felling became widely recognized and associated with the term "tree hugger."
In the 19th and 20th centuries, as industrialization progressed and deforestation became a pressing issue, the act of tree hugging gained prominence as a form of environmental activism. It symbolized a deep connection to nature and a commitment to preserving the Earth's natural resources.
In modern times, tree hugging continues to be a symbolic and literal practice. It serves as a reminder of our interdependence with nature and a way to cultivate a deeper appreciation for the environment. Tree hugging events and protests are often organized to raise awareness about deforestation, climate change, and the importance of conservation.
The act of embracing a tree is seen as a way to absorb its energy, find solace in nature, and experience a profound sense of connectedness. It is both a personal practice for spiritual and meditative purposes and a powerful statement of environmental activism and protection.
Overall, the history of tree hugging reflects humanity's enduring reverence for nature and the recognition of trees as powerful symbols of life, wisdom, and the preservation of our planet.
We hope this blog has helped demystify the practice of tree hugging and inspired you to get into nature and show your gratitude. Blessings x
]]>Lammas or Lughnasad is one of the eight sabbats and is celebrated on the 1st of August. This Sabbat focuses heavily on the celebration of bread and grain, with the word Lammas translating to 'Loaf Mass' . This is likely due to the fact it was around this time of year when the first grain would be harvested and then baked into bread to feed the community. Some of the grain would also be stored for later months as Lammas is also a sign we are heading into the darker half of the year and must be prepared for the months ahead.
For many pagans and witches this sabbat is a time to celebrate the life and death of the Celtic God of light, Lugh. Some believe Lugh sacrifices himself on Lammas, dying when the grain is cut and harvested. Lugh sacrifices himself to ensure a good grain harvest for the year. There are also stories that Lugh held large harvest festivals on the 1st of August to honour Tailtiu his stepmother.
As Lammas is the last fire festival and the first of the harvest festivals there are many ways you may choose to celebrate, we have listed just 7 below.
Lugh is not only the god of light but the god of skills, craftsmanship and talent. Therefore, this is often thought to be a great time to develop new skills or improve on ones you may have abandoned. While the days are still long and warm why not try painting outside, flowering arranging with wildflowers or working on your BOS.
As this is a sabbat celebrating the harvest of the first grains, baking bread is a must. The loaf you choose to bake will be up to you but why not try creating a cottage or plaited loaf decorated with edible flower, seasonal herbs or even paint it using homemade food colourings.
Many witches like to change their altars with the sabbats, this can be a great way to bring each season into your home and your practice.
To create a Lammas altar you can use:
Crystals: Aventurine, Citrine, Topaz, Carnelian
Coloured Ribbon : Yellow, Gold, Red, Orange
Flowers: Sunflowers, Cornflowers, Mariogold, Poppies
Herbs: Basil, Rosemary, Wheat, Cornstalks
Foods: Apples, Wheat, Corn, Carrots
Lammas, like many sabbats, is a good time reflect and look forward to what the coming months will bring. To do this you can conduct a Lammas tarot spread using this guide. It can often be helpful to conduct 10-15 minutes of mediation prior to performing a tarot reading to help you attune with you inner self.
Making a corn doll is one of the most traditional ways to honour Lammas. Some witches see corn dollies as representative of the spirt of corn and harvest which can then be kept all year.
Ingredients:
Follow these steps to make your own simple corn dolly.
It is around this time that Sunflowers began to bloom in Britain and many other parts of the globe. Traditionally sunflowers are seen as symbol of good luck, good fortune, joy and fertility.
Therefore, to bring you luck in the coming months ahead why not create a luck bowl to add to your Lammas altar or place at the entrance of your home.
You will need:
Method:
If you are unable to gather all of these ingredients then you can carry the dried petals or seeds around your neck or in your pocket in a small vile.
Although there is a lot of focus on the God Lugh during this time, Lammas also honours mother earth. Therefore, keep her at the centre of your mind when celebrating this sabbat celebrating the corn harvest.
The best way to do this is to go out into nature and forage for fresh herbs. When doing this make sure not wear headphones so you can listen to the sounds of nature. Find a quiet and safe spot and wait for a moment of stillness. Clasp in your hand any items you have foraged. Take a few deep breaths and give thanks to mother earth, either out loud or in your mind.
There you go 7 ways to have a wonderful Lammas even when on a tight budget, many of these activity's you will be able to perform with items you already have in the house. Blessings x
]]>Onions still have significance today in witchcraft. They are associated with the planet mars, the element of fire, the sun, and the heart chakra. All these associations mean onions can be used in magick for love, money, prosperity, success, protection, banishing and fertility. These powers reside in the whole onion including the skin.
Onion skins are often seen by many as a waste product, mostly likely due to the fact they are not eaten although this is too is starting to change – there are so many good recipes using onions skins. If you aspire to lead a practise that is as environmentally friendly as possible then read our 5 ways to use onion skins in your craft.
Salts, especially black salt, has long been used for its protective benefits, to keep a home safe and warn off intruders. Use this salt in any spells for banishing / protection magick and to create a protective boundary around your home. You may want to carry a small amount with you to deter negative people from interacting with you or place under you pillow to banish nightmares.
Ingredients:
Method:
Dry or burn your onion peel and gather all the ingredients. Combine all the ingredients together, and think about how you want this banishing salt to serve you. Store this salt ready for when you need it.
Many protection spells in witchcraft require the spell to be buried near your home. This can be challenging for witches who are focused on protecting the environment. Onion peel is a great option for a zero-waste biodegradable spell vessel. In addition, onions are a strongly protective ingredient so it may add even more power to your spell.
Simply take a whole onion peel and lay it on its side. Fill with your spell ingredients as you would a spell bag or a bottle. Then take natural twine or straw and tie up the ends. This spell can then either be buried or hung in your home.
Watch out video tutorial here
Onions are strongly associated with success and prosperity magick and can be used in a very similar way to how you might use bay or basil leaves.
One of our favourite ways to attract money is by taking the dried onion peel and writing on symbols of money and success. You may want to create your own prosperity sigil and draw this on the peel. If you have them to hand you can do the same with bay leaf and add them all together. While focusing your mind on your desires, place your peel on a fireproof dish and burn.
All witches before starting to perform spell work should make sure they understand how to protect themselves otherwise they may be left open to negative energies. One simple way to do this is to create a protection bowl. Leave this bowl at the entrance to your home or on your altar.
For this protection bowl you will need:
Bowl (that you have cleansed, this can be done by passing it through the smoke of burnt onion peel)
Onion peel (with protective symbols drawn on it)
Rosemary
Egg shell
Black salt
Obsidian (black or snowflake)
Remember to take all necessary precautions when working with fire.
Lastly these onion peels can be used to created onion powder. To do this wash the peel and either let them dry naturally by laying flat and leaving in a well-ventilated room. Or the process can be speed up by putting them in the oven until dry – watch them like a hawk as they can easily burn.
Then take these skins and grind them in your mortar and pestle until they are like a powder. This powder can then be used to anoint candles to manifest success and fertility, carried with you for protection or used in a dream charm bag.

]]>Although we like to think of ourselves as very experienced witches after so many years of practising even we sometimes run out of our most used herbs. This can be very inconvenient especially if you have already begun your spell before realising or when you must perform a spell at short notice and find yourself without half of the ingredients. But the best thing about witchcraft is that there are substitutions that can be made for almost any herb when you need to. In this blog we are going to cover what herbs can be used in the place of another and in what type of magick they can be used in.
If you find yourself without sage when performing protection magick this can be replaced with:
If you find your out of rose petals when performing love magick they can be replaced with:
If you have no more bay leaf and want to perform wealth and prosperity magick this can be replaced with:
If you have no lavender for sleep magick, then replace it with:
If you are performing magick to increase your power and have no peppermint, simply use:
If you are all out of rosemary when performing magick to reduce anxiety, then use the below instead:
All out of parsley for your strength magick? Then use:
If you are away from your home, altar, and witches’ tools it can be hard to practise in the way you normally do but there is limited room in your suitcase so you need to be prepared! Travel, especially when alone, can be a stressful time for many. In this blog we are going to cover our 5 best tips for any witches travelling alone this summer.
Altars do not have to be stationary spaces they will work just as well when made pocket size. This altar will be a totally simplified version of your usual magickal space, but if you are able to, bring one item from your larger altar to help keep that connection – this may be a symbolic item of a particular time or a picture of those you love.
The vessel for your altar could be a mini wooden chest, an old mint tin or even a small drawstring bag. You can make them as elaborate or as simple as you like as long as they keep all your items together.
If you live by one motto let it be be this, ‘A witch should never be without a white candle’. White candles are the best choice if you can only bring one colour as can be used as a replacement for any other colour.
Salt is important to have to hand as you can use it to cast a circle, and it’s an essential ingredient in any protection, prosperity and cleansing magick. We like to grab a few extra salt packets when out and about, so they are already packaged ready to go. Alternatively, you can package the salt in a tightly sealed bag or bottle before you leave.
The herb blend you choose to bring will be personal to you as it will coincide with the style of magick you often conduct. Herbs such as sage, rosemary, rose petals and parsley are all great choices as they can be used in a wide range if spells and are inexpensive. However, we would also recommend bringing slightly more uncommon herbs that you use, as these may be harder to find when in new places. Our chosen herbs are a mix of rose petals and parsley to signify the earth element and valerian root to help with sleep.
If you can only bring one crystal, then make it Malachite. Malachite has a long history and has become known as the stone for travellers. It can help reduce fears and anxieties, embrace change, and has strong protective qualities.
The final items in your travel altar should be a pentagram charm. The pentagram is not only a powerful protective charm but represents the 5 elements, giving you a symbol of all the elements in one.
If you are not confident about doing magick alone and on the go, one useful tip is to conduct a travel spell before you leave. We recommend doing this in the form of a spell bag or bottle so you can carry it will you throughout your journey.
Add the below items into your cleansed vessel:
And chant the following:
When travelling over land and sea
Ill keep this charm close to me
From incident I will be free
As I will it may it be
Make sure the bag or bottle is well sealed and then place it on your person or in your car.
Books and literature are one of the heaviest items that you do not want to be carrying around for the whole holiday. Therefore a few days before you are set to leave take a pocket size notebook and copy over the most essential information.
The information you choose will be personal to you. But we would recommend you make sure to include spells or chants for, the weather, transportation, sleep, clarity, and relaxation. You may want to keep few pages blank at the back to note down any magickal experiences you have while away and the results of any magick you decide to work. These blank pages can also be used for drawing sigils as they will have to be destroyed in some way to be activated.
Holidays can often be a busy time so you can easily loose track of the cycles of the moon, especially in you have travelled to a new time zone. Having an app on your phone that takes 2 minutes to check – or you can even set them up to notify you when the moon reaches a certain phase. We like to use My Moon Phase - Lunar Calendar or Moon phases and Lunar Calendar - Full Moon Phase.
You may also want to download an app that tells you about other planetary movements so you can keep an eye of any retrogrades that may occur. This will allow you to prepare for anything that could impact your trip. For this we recommend TimePassages - your pocket astrology toolkit or Time Nomad Astrology Charts
Travelling alone can often be overwhelming, especially if its your first time. With no companion to help calm you it can be useful to have chants to rely on. Decide on 1 or 2 chants before you leave or use the ones we have provided:
I have control over how I feel, and I choose to feel at peace
I am strong and ready for the task I have to face.
Calm washes over me
When feeling anxious find the quietest place you can or put in you headphones (you may want to create a relaxing playlist prior to your trip) and repeat your mantra out loud or in your head. Whist doing this breathe in for a count 4 and out for a count of 4 through your nose. Repeat this for as long as you need it.
10 Breathing techniques for stress relief
We really hope these tips help you and you all have a magickal summer holiday whatever you are doing. If you found this blog helpful, please share it or leave a comment. Blessings.
]]>First, we have the apple peel. Apple peel can be added to drinks and teas to sweeten them, just add into a tea pot of mug with your tea blend. Leave to steep for 3-5 minutes and drink in your tea rituals or before spell work.
One drink that witches will be familiar with is Wassail. The ancient practice of wassailing usually refers to a march or dance around apple orchards whilst singing to the trees to promote a good harvest. Wassail is traditionally drunk on the Twelfth Night, which for pagans is the 31st of December during Yule parties.
Apple Cider or Apple Juice
Whisky or brandy (omit for non-alcoholic version)
Whole orange
12 Cloves
Cinnamon sticks
Pinch and Ginger
Pinch of Ground Nutmeg
Peel of 1 apple
The flesh of this magickal fruit is not only a delicious to eat and enriches your body but is strongly associated with abundance, luck, love, longevity, creativity, and fertility in witchcraft. Whole apples will often be left as an offering to the love deities such as Freya, Venus, and Aphrodite or used to decorate Mabon altars.
A sigil is a magickal sign or symbol that is created to represent a particular intention or goal and have been used by Witches and occultists for many centuries. Sigils are based heavily in your intentions when drawing them and are a great way to put these intentions into a physical form. Carving your sigil into an object like an apple is a powerful and affordable way to make magick.
Create Your Own Sigil In 3 Simple Steps : The Wheel Method
Apple
Athame or carving tool
A prosperity Sigil
Although the sweet flesh of apples is often associated with love and lust, the bitter seeds can be great additions to protection spells, charms, and amulets.
Witch bottles have been used for centuries to protect homes and those living in them, traditionally buried under hearth stones or chimney breasts.
Apple seeds
Dried lavender
Glass bottle with lid
Sea Salt
Red candle
Ribbon (optional)
Finally, after removing the flesh and the seeds you are left with the apple core. Don’t be fooled by the often small and slightly ugly look of an apple core they are packed full of power.
As mentioned previously apples are often associated with love and lust. Therefore, you can use them to anoint a candle ready to use for love magick.
Apple core
White candle
Rose petals
Carrier oil or rose oil
Potpourri can be used as an alternative to incense if you are not able to burn it or do not like the smell.

Many witches choose to burn incense during meditation, spellwork and rituals. Citrus peel especially orange can be a good natural alternative. Orange has the power to lift spirits, cleanse the space and raise magickal vibrations.
Ingredients:
Method:
Orange oils are flammable so the peels often burn longer. If you are not able to light the peel you can also leave the dried peels in a bowl to create a homemade potpourri.
Many witches choose to use a smudge stick, often made from sage too cleanse themselves and their space. Bay leaf and oranges also has strong cleansing properties and are very easy and affordable to source.
Bay leaf (20-30 depending on the size of smudge stick)
Dried orange peal
Twine or string
Fresh flowers or charms for decoration (optional)
1. Peel your orange keeping it as big a piece as possible. Wash and dry the skin, then leave to dry. This can be done by putting them in the oven on a low heat from 30 minutes or leaving on a plate for around 2 days.
2. Take your leaves and place them one top of each other until you make the desired size. Then take your twine and wrap it around the leaves until they are tightly bundles. Tie the the twine tight.
3. Break or cut long strips of the orange peal and push into the twine, or extra twine if you are not able to do this.
4. You can then decorate your smudge stick by adding a pentagram charm around the base or adding in wild flowers such as lavender.

]]>Understanding how to protect your magickal space and yourself is one of the first lessons all beginner witches should take time to learn. Having this knowledge will allow you to expand your spell work whilst knowing you are protected from negative energies or spirits. We have created 3 spells that any witch can perform to keep them protected, all spells are written by a witch with 30 plus years experience in witchcraft.
The purpose of a charm bag is to hold a spell that can be carried with you. This spell provides you with a portable protection device, that can be used in your home or carried with you.
Orange charm bag (Orange aids communication for your protection wish)
Orange ribbon
Red tealight Candle (red candles add strength and energy to the spell)*
A mix of agrimony and sea salt
Vervain
Pentagram charm
*Red candles can also be used for passion, love and competitiveness spells so it is recommended that you do not charge your spell bag with intent in your bedroom.
1. Light the red candle. Carefully fill the orange bag with all of the herbs, use as little or as much as your intention tells you. Agrimony is used for protection against psychic attach and to repel negative energy. It can also send most spells that have been cast upon you back to the sender. Sea salt has been used for centuries to aid protection, where as Vervain, when combined with other herbs will heighten your intent.
2. Pull the cord of the bag and then thread or tie the pentagram charm onto the orange ribbon
3. Hold the filed charm bag in your hands and clearly picture your intent. Concentrate on how you wish to be protected and visualise white light surrounding you and your home. Breath deeply allowing the picture of how you will be protected to run through your mind. This charges the charm bag with your magickal intent.
4. Carefully pass the bag through the smoke given off by the candle. If you wish you can also light incense (we recommend sage or lemon scented) and pass the bag through the smoke generated by the incense. Place you bag at a safe distance from the candle and allow the candle to burn away.
5. Your charm bag is now charged and can be carried with you or kept safe in your home. Place on you altar or at any entrance ways.
Witch bottles have been used for centuries to protect homes and those living in them. Traditionally they were buried underneath hearth stones or in the chimney breasts. This spell can be used to protect your home from evil intent.
Glass bottle with cork stopper (or similar)
Red Spell Candle
Sea Salt (this can be substituted for other salts such as black salt or table salt)
Lavender Flowers (fresh or dry)

1. Cleanse the glass bottle by holding it in the smoke from the burning incense, burying overnight in earth, or immersing in a flowing stream/ spring water.
2. Fill the bottle with the salt and lavender use as little or as much as your intention tells you. Then add a few strands of your hair and some nail clippings, this makes the spell personal to you.
3. As you fill the bottle concentrate on how you will be protected and envision an energy field of white light around you and your home.
4. Put the cork in the top of the bottle. Light the red candle and allow the molten wax to drip on the cork stopper to seal it.
5. Take your bottle at night, preferably on a full moon, or during a waning moon and bury it as close to your home and possible. If you live in a flat you may wish to bury it in a potted plant close to your front door, either outside or in.
6. As you bury it recite the following chant:
This spell should stay in place whilst the bottle is buried and unopened.
Some witches believe that between the hours of 10pm to 2am the veils between dimension thins. Use this spell to protect you while you sleep and have a restful night.
Dried Lavender
Dried Rosemary
Dried Rose Petals
Black Spell Bag
White Tealight
Rose Incense (cones or sticks)

]]>In this blog we are going to cover the magical uses of Lemons, Egg shells, Parsley, Thyme, Basil and Garlic.
Lemons with their beautiful bright skin and fresh flavour are often used throughout summer by witches. Use lemon oil, dried peel or juice in love, joy and happiness magick.
Lemons have very strong purification properties. Take fresh or dried lemon peel and burn, as you would a smudge stick, to cleanse your magickal tools and work space. Remember to always open the windows when smudging to let the negativity out. Or take your lemon and cut in to quarters, then dip in salt and place around your home. This will absorb any negative energies (make sure to dispose of the lemon once the cleansing is complete) leaving you with a cleansed space.
Egg shells are an item we often have in our homes which so many people throw away without knowing their uses. Next time you use an egg make sure to wash and dry the shell thoroughly. If you have a mortal and pestle this can then be used to crush your shells into a fine powder. However if you do not they can be crushed into small pieces by hand or with a rolling pin.
Eggs shells have strong protective qualities so can often be used in a similar way to salt. Sprinkle your crushed or ground egg shells around the entrance of your home or any spaces you want to form a protection barrier around. Egg shells can also be used in conjunction with other protective herbs such as Sage and Vervain to make protective spell jars that can then placed on your altar.
Parsley, also know as 'devils oatmeal' or 'persil' is a strong source of anit-oxidants and vitamins. In England it was considered unlucky to transplant it and saying the name of the person picking it would encourage their death.
It is often associated with spell work to connect with death, rebirth, love, fertility and strength. Either roll an oil covered candle in chopped parsley leaves and then burn to aid in divination, or chew on it with a partner to promote a loving relationship.
Warning : Parsley should never be consumed by pregnant women as it can bring on contractions and even cause miscarriage.
Thyme is strongly linked to courage and strength as women would often give it to knights to bring them success in battle. It is associated with spells for courage, strength, sleep and love.
To bring you courage carry it with you, add to your bath or add a little to your wash when laundering clothes. Your can also fill a charm bag with thyme and place it under your pillow to ward of nightmares or burn before bed to cleanse the space.
Basil has a mixed history as it is associated with love, luck, wealth and protection as well as, evil, the devil and opening the gates to the afterlife. Use basil in spells for wealth, protection, love and meditation.
To attract money grow a pot of basil in your doorway or add dried basil and coins to a charm bag. To manage your relationships place a fresh basil leaf in the hand of a lover, if it withers immediately it is said they are promiscuous or throw basil into running water to rid your self of a relationship.
Garlic to, has a long history, it can be traced back to the ancient Greeks who used it as protection against the evil eye or gave it to soldiers for courage.
Garlic bulbs can be hung above your door to protect your home from jealous people. It can also be used in spirit banishing boundary spells, crush it together with bay leaf, rosemary and sea salt. Then sprinkle this mix around doorways or windows in your home.
All these ingredients have further more complex uses as well but this is just an introduction to some of the most used.

]]>Circles can be any size and at their simplest are cast by the witch raising her wand, athame or finger and rotating slowly, pointing their finger at the ground and imagining white light rising from the ground. Some choose to mark out the circle with small rocks or twigs, if outside. If inside, some draw chalk lines or mark out the circle in other ways.
More complex circles involve marking out the points of the compass: East, South, West, North. You can use a compass or an app on your mobile phone to do this. Place an object at each cardinal point, on the edge of the circle, that symbolises the element it represents:
East - Air (wand, censer, incense, bell)
South - Fire (athame or wand)
West - Water (bowl of water, chalice)
North - Earth (crystal, pine cone, dirt, salt)
If you wish, you can mark each of the compass points with a candle that is lit for the time that you are working in the circle and extinguished when you complete your work.
In some traditions, the points of the compass are called upon, referring to them as 'lords of the watchtowers' or 'guardians'. Face each point in turn and call upon them to aid your working. A bell can be rung as you make your request, or you can choose to hold up each elemental symbol (raise your bowl of salt, or wand for example).
You may choose to place a pentagram symbol in the centre of the circle or draw a pentagram in the air using your athame or wand. There are different ways of drawing a pentagram, indicated by your starting point. Circles can also be marked with the points corresponding to those of a pentagram with North representing spirit, often seen as the fifth element. There are traditions, such as some Wiccan traditions, that typically set up an altar in the North upon which they may place some ritual tools.
Another way of working is to call the spirits of ancestors, or elemental spirits, to the edge of your circle to aid you in your work. I you do this be careful not to invite them into your circle which is your personal working space.
If you do call upon the quarters (or watchtowers) or ask spirits to help you, remember to thank them when you have finished your work and before closing your circle.
Close your circle by visualising the white light dispersing back into the ground, or by announcing that the circle is now closed, remove and cleanse your ritual tools and pour any salt, water or other natural substance into the ground.
]]>Many have tried to trace its roots but there is no evidence as to its exact origin. Some say it comes from the Aramaic language meaning ‘I create like the word’, whilst others believe it comes from the Hebrew ‘I create as I speak’. However, both can be seen to have the same meaning.
The Hebrew translation also fits into Kabbalistic notions that words have the power to create.
It was often written in triangular form and worn as an amulet in the 2nd century by malaria sufferers, presumably to ward off the disease.
Its first appearance in writing was in a book by Serenus Sammonicus, a physician at the Roman courts, also in the 2nd century.
Abracadabra has also been used as a magickal formula for summoning demons by Gnostics.
During the Middle Ages the word was recited to ward off evil spirits and witchcraft, each incantation of the word losing a letter at the end, until just the ‘a’ was pronounced.
In his journal of 1722, Daniel Defoe wrote of the word being used in amulets that were worn around the neck to ward off the plague or written on doorways during the plague.
During the 19th century, the word decline in us and is now largely used in entertainment.
Whether you use Abracadabra in your magickal practice is entirely an individual choice. Some believe that the magickal properties of a word can be used in chants and spells even if their meaning is not fully known, whilst others will not use a word whose origins cannot be guaranteed.
]]>This fragrant Yuletide blessing bath is guaranteed to cleanse the spirit and mend a weary body from the past year’s labours. If you don’t have a bath it works equally as well as a body wash – just add the ingredients to your usual shower gel.
· Candles (white or green)
· Half a cup of Sea Salt
· Half a teaspoon of Thyme
· Half a teaspoon of Rosemary
· A few drops of your preferred essential oil (festive scents will work best e.g., Orange, Pine, Cinnamon)
1. First, boil some water in a small pan and add in the Rosemary and Thyme. Stir for several minutes then allow to cool.
2. Run a warm bath while the mixture cools and add your Sea Salt to the bath water.
3. Pour the Rosemary and Thyme water into the bath and slowly stir them together in a clockwise motion. While you do this, reflect on everything that you have faced and overcome during this past year.
4. Light your candles and place them around your bathroom.
5. As you lower yourself into the bath water, visualise all of your exhaustion and negativity washing away from you and dissolving.
6. Let the water invigorate and uplift you as you soak in it and focus on all the promising energy that you will take with you into the new year. Think about what it is that you are looking forward to in this time.
7. Take a deep breath in and visualise bright white energy flowing down through the top of your head, filling your body with light. With each breath you take pull the light further down into yourself.
8. Meditate for as long as feels comfortable to you and relax, secure in the knowledge that you are revitalised and ready for the next turn of the wheel.
You can repeat this bath ritual as often as you like over the holiday season, whenever you feel you need more psychic energy. Each time you do, focus hard on the replenishment of your energy and self, so that you may go into 2023 eager and fully charged with positivity.
Blessings x
]]>Many of us have rather different associations with this time of year, but whatever you believe, we've prepared some fitting preparations that you can make to get ready for this years Yule festivities.
Setting resolutions for the new year is a tradition that none of us are strangers to. What better way to begin the year anew than with a fresh arsenal of wishes and aspirations - or simply even a pinecone.
This has seen a lot more popularity in recent years again and is a great, charming activity that all the family can get involved with. Simply write down your wishes or "resolutions" for the coming year on a small piece of paper, then roll them up and stick them into the gaps of the pinecone.
The pinecone can then either be burned, to release the wishes within, or used to decorate a Yule tree or altar - serving as a physical reminder and manifestation of the resolutions and wishes.
Whether it's oak and covered in mistletoe, or chocolate and showered in icing sugar, the Yule log is the centrepiece of this Sabbat. A tradition dating back centuries, the oak log has been adorned with things such as pinecones, berries, holly and mistletoe, and burned on the fireplace. The act of this is a powerful symbolic ritual, signifying letting go of the past and the banishment of negativity.
The slightly more modern and chocolatey variety may not share in these same magickal connotations - but it's hard not to include one in your Yule preparations anyway.
- A purple spell candle
- Clear Quartz crystal
- White sage incense stick
This spell is best performed on the night of a full moon .
1. Place the candle into a holder. If you wish you can first engrave it with a pentagram using a pin, or anoint it with oil. You may wish to charge your crystal before use. To do so place the crystal in moonlight overnight or bury it in fresh soil for 24 hours.
2. Light the incense and place it in a holder nearby.
3. Light the spell candle. Let your mind clear and concentrate on the flame. Let go of negative thoughts and allow yourself to fall into a meditative state. Then say:
“As I set this flame alight trust my power to burn bright”
4. Place the quartz crystal between your finger and thumb in your dominant hand. Then pass it, from left to right, above the flame of the candle (taking care not to get too close). Whilst doing this say: “As the darkness turns to light trust that knowledge will aid my sight”
5. You can pass the crystal across and above the candle as many times as you like, repeating the above words. Keep your mind relaxed, allow yourself to feel the magickal energy around you, and take note of any images or thoughts that come to you. Feel that you are grounded and growing magickally stronger.
6. When you feel ready, extinguish the candle and incense.
This spell can be repeated as often as you like. It can also be used to raise energy prior to performing another so.
]]>As the veil between our world and the next dwindles, it is at this time of year that we feel closest to our ancestors, deceased loved ones and those that we are still blessed with.
This altar cloth is a beautiful sentiment and way to honour these people - as well as a great way to decorate your altar-space for the season (or any time of year!).
There's really no right or wrong way to do this one, so you can really let your creative energies flow!
It might be a good idea to plan out your cloth on a piece of paper first or to write it on in pencil, so you don't waste a perfectly good altar cloth.
A white or lightly coloured cloth for your altar
Fabric pencil/markers or embroidery equipment
Your family tree or genealogy
Samhain marks the end of the harvest season and the turning of the page into the "darker half" of the year, Winter.
In some Pagan and Wiccan traditions, this is commemorated with the ritualistic creation of a straw man - known as the King of Winter.
The King of Winter is made from the decaying plants of the garden at the end of Fall and is to watch over your home throughout the coming months, before being burnt as part of your Beltane celebrations, with the emergence of Spring.
This guide will help you craft a simple, but still just as symbolic, straw man - but if you're feeling particularly seasoned, you can embellish it with any additional details that you desire.
Two bundles of leftover plants from the garden (feel free to experiment with what you use)
Some string or twine
We hope that these mystical projects keep you busy and bewitched this Samhain. But most importantly, that you have a wonderful time with them diving into the spirit of the season!
Could you think of a better way to greet the cold than a good old-fashioned crafts project around a cosy hearth? We can't either - so we've prepared a few magical (witch)craft ideas for you to really make the most out of this holiday season! This will be released in multiple parts - starting with some wonderfully spiritual pumpkin candles to light up the house with.
It's hard to imagine October without pumpkins - they're everywhere: our windows, the roadside and even our Autumnal lattes. These luminous little pumpkins are both a great way to honour the fading Fall and ready us with the warmth of fire as we move into another cold Winter (they look and smell great too). They certainly get you in the mood and add a bit of magic to the season. So it's only fitting to create some enchanting scented pumpkin candles for the proper atmosphere!
Dill (Anethum graveolens) has strong roots in witchcraft. The name dill originates from the Norse word ‘Dilla’ which means to lull or soothe. In Germany and Belgium, brides often add dill into their bouquets in the belief that it will bring them a good marriage. Indeed, dill is often used in love magick as the plant signifies lust and goodwill as well as encouraging fertility.
There has even been mention of the magick of dill seeds in medieval Grimoires. The seeds were also burned and used as incense to protect against sorcery in the Middle Ages.
Dill is a powerful herb for love, romance, and lust spells. Dill seeds are especially important for love potions. Love potions are potent forms of Witchcraft and should be used extremely carefully. Give this love potion to the object of your affections.
For this spell you will need:
Chose a wine that you and the object of your affection enjoy drinking. Steep this wine with the dill seeds. You can use as many seeds as you feel are needed. Then strain the wine and offer it to the desired one. When you pour out their glass make sure you speak aloud your desires over it.
Dill is a powerful protection herb and can be used as protection from nightmares and as protection for the home. Place dried dill in a pouch (we recommend an organza or jute bag) and put it inside or under your pillow for nightmare protection. If you are using dill to protect your home, then always place it at the doorway. The doorway of your home is one of the most vulnerable places for bad energy, or evil spirits, to enter. Placing dill over the threshold of your home will protect you against anyone (or spiritual being) who has hostile or envious feelings and will offer protection from the evil eye.
If you are unfortunate enough to have a hex put on you then dill is a very useful for breaking this hex as soon as possible.
To break the hex you will need:
Blend together the salt and dill either using a pestle and mortar or magickal bowl. Scatter this mix around your home or any place you feel the hex strongly. Whilst scattering the mix say out loud the hex that you need lifted. You may also want to say a protection chant to reduce the risk of this happening again in the future.
We will be releasing part 2 soon!
]]>The word ‘sigil’ comes from the Latin word ‘sigillum’ which means ‘seal’ and they played an important role in Medieval ceremonial magick, where symbols were used to raise and control a specific entity, like an angel or a demon. A good example is The Lesser Key of Solomon, an anonymous grimoire of 72 sigils used to control 72 demons compiled in the late 1600s. But please don’t let this alarm you! In modern day magick, like the kind this post is concerned with, sigils are used for personal matters such as attracting wealth, protection, healing, setting stronger boundaries and used to represent an intention or thought and have no connection to demonology or dark magick.
It’s a good example of Chaos Magick, where an affirmation, statement, word or name is converted to symbolic form which is charged with very specific intention and is an incredibly powerful form of magick. It’s one of my favourite kinds of magick and I'm fascinated by their power and simplicity. They can be drawn, carved or burned into any kind of material, but usually they are simply drawn with a pen or pencil on a piece of paper. This makes them easier to destroy usually by burning either when activating them (more about this later) or when the magick is complete. Drawing it on paper also makes it easier to carry and conceal, particularly if you're in the broom closet.
Making a sigil is a great way to give a physical form to your intentions and goals and is an incredibly powerful form of magick. The great thing is there are many ways to make a sigil that is packed with the power of your intention making it a great form of magick for those Witches on a budget (like me!). It can also be a discreet form of magick for those practicing in the broom closet.
When creating your sigil, it’s important to take your time to formulate your intentions before you begin. Your intentions are the very heart of your sigil and they are what gives this kind of magick power and energy. Sit somewhere quiet to think exactly what your intentions are. Be as specific as you can. Using this method, I have found that it works better to either chose one word to represent your intentions or a short and concise phrase only a few words long. This helps to keep the energy of your sigil focused and prevents more than one goal from being attached it. As with all spell-work, keep your intentions realistic and phrase them as positively as you can.
Once you have your chosen word or phrase, you can simplify your intentions by removing any vowels and repeated letters, but this is an optional step so do what you feel is right. The more letters you remove, the simpler the final sigil will be.
The next step is to draw or print out a sigil wheel of your choice. This is illustration included is an example of a sigil wheel. The idea is that you use the letters on the wheel drawing a line from one letter to the next until you’ve spelled out your chosen words, and the shape that is created by the end is your sigil. For the first letter of the intention, I usually draw a dot on the first letter before I move on to the next, drawing a line from one letter to the next. I usually end the sigil with a dot. This is just my personal practice, but you don’t have to do this if it doesn’t feel right, go with your intuition!
This post on sigils has been written for Witchbox by author of Astrology Magick, Earth Magick and Natural Magick, Lindsey Squire. We are very grateful for the time she has taken to write this just for us, so why not take a look at her Instagram @thewitchoftheforest.

My name is Helen. I am 45 years old, and I live in Derbyshire. I am a Wiccan Witch and I have been for over 20 years. In the last couple of years, I have been able to study and practice my craft, with it being both accepted and accessible thanks to the Internet. I am finally able to get my hands on the books I used to dream about reading. I now have an endless supply of Magickal equipment and ingredients, that in my earlier years I never thought I would be able to own. Even though I haven’t practiced my craft for 20 years, it was still there waiting for me when I lovingly opened my box of Magickal items.
What happened next, no amount of research could have prepared me for what I went through every day and night. My story starts about a week after my re-dedication to Wicca and the Craft. I was preforming simple positive Ritual and Spells for health, happiness etc and meditating. I didn’t do any spirit work or anything negative.
It started slowly at first. Every night in bed I would feel something get onto the bed and gently touch my feet. The bed would feel like it was being lifted off the floor and it would start to shake. Then, the night visitors came. Every night I would see or feel their presence. The first time I saw one I woke up in the middle of the night to see a dirty grey dressed woman with long wet black hair bent over the bed staring at me. I screamed and she disappeared. The next night I woke up to see a man stood on my husband’s side wearing a tan trench coat. He reminded me of Castiel from Supernatural and I felt protected and safe. I saw him a few times that night, each time in a different place. In the morning I told my husband about it, and he told me that his Grandad always used to wear a tan trench coat and yes, he did look a lot like Castiel when he was alive.
Another time I woke up to see a large Shimmering light that looked like a beautiful Celestial doorway. Every time I woke up it had moved around the room. I believe this was an actual doorway between our worlds. I felt at peace and loved, and I went back to sleep with a huge smile on my face.
One night Jack my English Bull Terrier was poorly so I slept downstairs on the sofa with him and George my Staffordshire Bull Terrier. At about 3am whilst I was reading, I looked across the room and I could see a cat slowly form. It started off like tracking from an old video tape. Then got clearer. It was my cat Holly who had died 5 years ago. Then another cat appeared. It was my other cat Phoenix who died last year. I could see another cat coming through (I used to have 8 cats) but George went up to them and they vanished.
One of the worst ones was something that I have always feared. I woke up to see a face inches away from my own. I screamed and punched it on the nose! I have seen this face again but when I saw it, I had my eyes closed. I didn’t see it in my mind’s eye, it was like I was seeing it through my closed eyelids. I have never experienced anything like that before. The one that made me reach out and get help was when I saw a small green glowing creature about the size of a cat. It was on my bedside table. I knew it was not from this Earth and it just felt so very wrong.
I reached out to fellow Wiccans and Witches on Instagram, and they gave me the help and advice that I needed to be able to control these visits. You see I had opened myself up completely to everything without the proper protection in place. All the books that I had read did not prepare me for any of this at all, and I had become a beacon to anything supernatural. Now that I have the proper amount of protection in place I am in control, and I have closed this beacon and these night visits no longer happen. The moral of my story is that Witchcraft is real. My experiences proved that to me and made my beliefs even stronger as I have seen it with my own eyes.
Whist all of this was going on I have also started to hear in both ears, church bells, singing, animals etc. I lost my Mum 13 years ago to cancer and one afternoon I heard her calling me by my nickname Hels. Only my Mum and Dad called me that and both are no longer living. So, if you are interested in Witchcraft then please learn about protection before anything else.

]]>Oracle cards can be used to give insights and readings, in a similar way to tarot. However, oracle cards follow fewer rules and are much less complex than Tarot and are therefore much easier to read.
Whereas a tarot deck contains 78 cards an oracle deck can contain much fewer. Like tarot, oracle cards can also be used for meditation, magick or reflection as well as for divination.
Using Oracle cards on your altar
You may wish to put one of our oracle cards on your altar to honour a certain goddess, for example, with Freya you can create an altar space that includes candles, offering bowls and runes. Placing pictures of the moon, cats, birds and rabbits, and small dishes of offerings such as honey, perfume, ale or flowers is another way to show respect to your deity.
If you wish to worship more than one deity on your altar, make sure they are closely aligned or if they are not, ask them first whether they wish to share an altar. If they do not wish to share an altar and you are low on space, make sure they are clearly separated. If two deities are sharing an altar it may be best to make separate offerings or give them their own offering of the same item, however, some deities will be happy to share.
We have created a whole Witchbox around the theme of Divine magick and working with Goddess if you would like further information and tools.
How to read Oracle cards
Make sure you cleanse the area for your readings first and clear your mind, so it is ready to be open when interpreting your readings. If you’re reading for someone else focus on them while shuffling the cards or ask that they shuffle the cards themselves.
To use your Goddess cards for readings, you can use them in a three-card spread to read into the past, present and future. To do this, lay them face down on the table and read them in order from left to right, left being the past, the centre card the present and the right card the future.
Others like to shuffle the cards until a card either flies out or otherwise becomes prominent. This card can then be interpreted to see what meaning can be drawn from it. Another way to read oracle cards is to pull as many cards as your intuition tells you to or you can ask the universe a question and then pull a card to see what answer has been given to you.
Oracle cards in magick
A single oracle card can help maintain focus during spell work. Select a card to symbolise the type of spell you are working and use it for visualisation and focus whilst working the spell. A card can also be used to signify a particular person or event, for instance a card can be used to represent the intended recipient when working healing spells.
How to store Oracle cards
Whichever way you choose to use your oracle cards, they are sure to be an asset in your craft. When not in use they are best stored in a black bag, pouch or cloth and away from electricity and light to prevent them from absorbing negative energies. They can be cleansed in incense before each use by passing the pack through the smoke. Enjoy!
