What is a Mercury Retrograde?
What does Mercury retrograde mean? Mercury is the smallest known planet and is the closest planet to the sun. Mercury retrograde is a term used when it appears from Earth that the planet is travelling backwards. This is, in fact, an illusion.
Mercury is currently in retrograde and will be back in again roughly on August 23rd until September 14, depending on where you reside.
You may be wondering why we`re writing about solar events, well Mercury Retrogrades might be affecting you more then you think. Astrologers believe that a Mercury Retrograde is believed to hold significance as it rules expression and communication. So imagine Mercury moving backwards... What happens to your expression and communication, disruption is bound to occur.
The success of business partnerships, creative projects, friendships, and romances are dependent upon effective communication. So does this mean we can`t communicate anymore? Everyday exchanges will be going backward during Mercury Retrograde? Will our cars breakdown and computers crash? Not exactly! It means things can go a little wrong more easily than usual, but there are lessons to be learned during these phases.
Astrologers have closely analysed what humans experience during this 3 week period:
-Experiencing misunderstandings.
- Disrupted travel, logic and communication.
-Falling out with friends.
-Flights being delayed.
-Loss of emails, letters and paperwork.
Sound familiar? Obviously each of these events are common within the human experience. However, we always find myself being especially useless during this time. There are witnesses to comment on that!
