The End of Duty-Free Shipping to the USA

What a United States customer needs to know!

If you're a customer in the United States and we are shipping to you in the United States this update directly affects you! - PLEASE READ ON.

What's happened?

Starting on August 29th, 2025, the U.S. government will officially end the de minimis exemption on low-value international shipments from all countries, including shipping from the United Kingdom (GB).

This is part of a sweeping executive order issued by President Trump on the 30th July, 2025, which eliminates the long-standing tax exemption on packages valued under $800 (formerly known as "de minimis"), a rule that previously allowed international small businesses like Witchbox to send products to the U.S. tariff-free.

What does this mean to you?

Put simply it increases the costs of us shipping products to you including our subscription boxes. - we are so sorry!

In order to try and limit the impact of this change we have had to stop using the Royal Mail as our main supply for shipments to the United States and instead are switching to use another International provider.

This has in turn increased our shipping costs (and other business-related processes) and we are having to pass on some of that to yourselves - again we are very sorry.

As a small business we can't afford to absorb all of the increase and without making this change you may be liable to a large flat rate import charge per shipment! of $80 per shipment - something that we do not want to happen.

What is the extra shipping charge?

We will apply a shipping charge of $25.

Is this change forever?

We are not sure, but it looks like the USPS have stated that for the next 6 months (until February 2026) these charges will be in force and after that other tariffs will take over.  

So what does this mean to me as a US customers?

For any orders placed on or after the 16th of August, and for any products ordered via our website or any other locations where we sell our products, there will be an increase in the shipping prices you pay.

Is there anything that can be done to stop these changes?

Unfortunately not!  The US government and USPS are in total control, and we are powerless to do anything about this.  

Finally, this change will affect ALL incoming goods to the United States from most/all countries so please note this when you are thinking about ordering from other countries!
