"The Kind Witch"

Beneath the moon’s soft silver glow,
Where autumn winds begin to blow,
A kind old witch in cloak of green,
Prepares the night, both calm and keen.

She lights black candles, one by one,
Their flickering flames like setting sun.
They cast a shield both near and far,
To guard her spells and guiding star.

She places skulls upon her shelf,
Each one carved or found herself
Not for fear, dread or gloom,
But to honor the souls that have left the room.

A pumpkin grins beside her door,
Its glowing smile a cheerful lore.
With seeds she’ll roast and flesh she’ll bake,
For offerings sweet, the spirits take.

Her crystal ball, so clear and wide,
She places near her hearth with pride.
It hums with whispers, old and deep,
Of dreams the living, rarely keep.

A mirror hangs on a shadowed wall,
Veiled in silk, yet sensing all.
Tonight she’ll lift it's cover so slow,
To glimpse the ones she used to know.

With herbs she brews a fragrant tea,
Of mugwort, clove, and rosemary.
She sips, then hums an ancient rhyme,
That turns the gears of spirits and time.

She sets an extra plate and cup,
And pours the cider, to fill it up.
For guests unseen may come to dine,
Across the thinning veil and line.

No curses cast, no wicked charm
She weaves her craft to soothe, not harm.
She speaks to stars, to earth, to sea,
In quiet, sacred, harmony.

And when the clock strikes it's midnight chime,
She thanks the goddeses, the land, the time.
The kind witch sighs, her work now done
"Blessed All Hallows" to everyone.
